Research into novel fungicides

We are currently working with a university team that has identified a number of fungicidal agents which work synergistically, targeting protein synthesis via a novel mechmnaism.  The combination can produce significant inhibition of fungal growth, where the individual agents have no detectable effect.  The key benefit is expected to be reducing the development of resistance to fungicides, which is a continuing threat to global food security (crop diseases and food spoilage).  The team have just secured BBSRC funding to expand the research and we will be supporting the commercialisation of the project through industrial partners.
